I think the introduction of blockchain & crypto into gaming is going to give more control over not only our digital assets, but also over the value of our time in a game as a whole. We could even see game based jobs through crypto payments and blockchain verifiable tasks for payment!”
Collectively and individually, the eSports, gaming and blockchain industries have been on fire lately. The announcement of the hemisphere’s largest eSports arena coming to Philadelphia has made experts increasingly confident that eSports is here to stay in the United States. Blockchain will only catalyze this growing phenomenon and change the way players get paid.
“eSports are coming to the blockchain as well and I think that we will see a huge surge in this general area. While current major eSports tournaments for games like LoL & Fortnite payout in currencies like USD, they will pay in their native crypto token,” Newkirk said.
Another current topic that might be discussed is how subscription-based gaming will affect the industry. Dan Fleyshman, Founder of Elevator.Studio, sees the subscription-based gaming model as an enhanced gaming experience without the solicitation.
“Subscription-based gaming is the natural transition for the Esports space, as more and more sponsors plaster their logos on every inch of the industry, the paid subscription model allows for fans to watch, experience & enjoy ad-free content,” Fleyshman said.
